INtroduction
This term at Ilford County High School, we have been studying the 'Rites of Passage' in several of the main religions, such as Christianity, Islam, HInduism, Judaism, Buddhism and finally Sikhism. This website will explain how Sikhs commemorate the special moments in a person's life, for example, birth, growing up, weddings and funerals. In addition to this, an evaluation will be given on the strengths and weaknesses of the ceremony as well as the similarities and differences between those in other religions (comparing and contrasting). We wanted to give our class a 'rough outline' of what rites of passage in Sikhism are like; as it is not as common as others. As Sikhs, each of us has experienced (at least) one of these specific 'rites of passage'.
